A colleague asks if you can "just take a quick look" at their spreadsheet. You receive forty-one tabs and a macro nobody understands. They receive your lunch break and a heartfelt "you're a lifesaver". You offer to split the last slice of pizza. Your friend takes the bigger half and then asks if you're going to finish yours. You receive crust. They receive the moral high ground. A group chat goes quiet after you suggest paying for the holiday deposit upfront. You receive a thumbs-up from one person. You also receive the full bill, with a promise to "sort it out later". **Why it caught on:** the picture shows a long-haired young man in a grey suit, hands steepled in front of him, in a purple-lit room, looking at the camera with a calm, slightly smug stare. People caption it with "i receive:" on one side and "you receive:" on the other, listing a lopsided deal in which the poster gets something small and the other party gets something much worse. It spread because everyone has been on one end of a bad bargain, and the straight-faced delivery makes the unfairness funnier.
