A Buff Doge vs. Cheems post.
Your inbox is empty, your to-do list is on fire, and you spend forty minutes reorganising the colour coding of the to-do list. Productivity, by any reasonable definition, has left the building. The work itself, however, remains someone else's problem. You gave a three-hour talk at the weekend about a hobby you've been doing for six weeks. People nodded. Someone took notes. On Monday you can't send an email without rereading it four times and deleting the word "just". You wake at 6am and go for a run in the rain, unprompted, fuelled only by spite. By 6.40 you are standing in the shower composing a speech about why you will never be good at anything. Your friend says "that looked great" about your presentation. You hear "that was fine, I suppose". You will replay the slide with the typo for the next nine years. **Why it caught on:** it pairs two Shiba Inu pictures: "Swole Doge", a heavily muscled version of the Doge dog, and Cheems, a real Shiba Inu who looks tearful and defeated. The pairing took off in 2020 as a way to contrast how strong something used to be, or is in one area, with how weak it is in another. It spread because almost anyone can put a flattering label on the left and an embarrassing one on the right.
