Boromir meme: ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY / LEAVE ONE'S TV VOLUME ON AN ODD NUMBER...

A Boromir post.

Your friend asks for a quick favour. It is not quick. You are now holding one end of a wardrobe on a staircase, and he is saying "just a bit more to the left" with total confidence. Someone suggests a "small" team night out. By Friday it is thirty people, a set menu, and a spreadsheet of dietary requirements that you somehow own. You pop to the shop for milk. You come back forty minutes later with a basket of things you didn't need, no milk, and a loyalty card you've signed up for. You say you'll have just the one episode before bed. The credits roll, the next one starts in five seconds, and it is suddenly a quarter to two. **Why it caught on:** the picture is a still of Boromir, played by Sean Bean in the 2001 film The Fellowship of the Ring, from the scene where he tells the council that one does not simply walk into Mordor. People kept the top line and swapped the ending for any task that is never as easy as it sounds, and the format has been reused ever since.
